Rockinthejacket

A picture my friends and I took after we made tailored jackets as part of our curriculum junior year...

London

While New York is often concerned with wearablility and utility, London is perceived as the avant-garde of the fashion world. Some call it crazy, but I think its fabulous. With designers such as Gareth Pugh and Christopher Kane, as well as late favorites Jonathan Saunders who showed in nyc this season, London to me is innovative. I think there is an openiness about London fashion to experimenting with style and I always look forward to London Fashion Week.

As a city, I've always known London as a city that rains nonstop.... but a city with lots of tradition and history.

NYC - THE FASHION CAPITAL

The psychology of fashion in New York City make it the most fascinating capital of fashion for me. People from all over the world comes to New York City, the differences and the similarities between how people of different cultures dress and are thus perceived are extremely interesting. For example, an Islamic woman who is all covered up sitting next to a girl showing her bellybutton on the train. What do they think of each other? How people dress, move, and act always makes you think.

About Wen Shi

My name is Wen. I was born in China and moved to Florida when I was ten years old. After attending Parsons Summer Intensive while in high school, I decided to move to New York City to persue a career in Fashion Design. My thesis inspiration was a combination of artists. It is a mixture of influences composing the U.S Pavilion built by Buckminister Fuller, the works of M.C. Escher, and paintings by Delacroix. The aesthetic is clean, easy, intelligent, and modern.
